Originally from Joburg, the Du Plessis Family came over to Australia approximately 10 years ago. We never would have thought in a million years that we would own and operate a little South African store when we first came to Australia, but it has become such an incredible journey for us not only as a business but as a family too.

Even though the Du Plessis family has owned and operated Cutman Foods since 2018, it was originally started by the Snyman family. This is where we got our name from: “Sny man” directly translated into English from Afrikaans is “Cut man”.

The Snyman family taught us how to continue making the products their customers already knew and loved and we have been growing from there, making delicious biltong, drywors, and boerewors in our store for everyone to enjoy. All our meat products are made in house using the finest ingredients. The wors (sausages) are made using natural casings and we use a blend of imported spices to keep our flavours as traditional as possible.

We buy all our South African groceries from wholesalers and do not deal with importing at all in our store. While we do have a variety of grocery items in our store, we offer our customers the opportunity to order specific items not on our shelves (provided our suppliers stock them).

We love that through our products we are able to give our South African customers a taste of home and introduce those unique flavours to our customers that never grew up with them. Over the years of having our little shop we have come to know so many of our regular customers. We are so incredibly thankful for all the support we have received over the years. All of the fat chats and laughs. To us, our regulars aren’t just customers, they’re friends. Thank you to each and every one of you.
